Privacy Policy
Last updated: October 27, 2026
Over The Hill Software LLC ("we," "us," or "our") respects your privacy. This Privacy Policy explains how information may be handled when you visit our website or use our games, including Plain Old Tower Defense (the "Services").
Information collected by our website
Our website is an informational website. We do not operate accounts, email subscriptions, comments, or website analytics on it. The Android and iOS beta request form sends information you submit to our server over HTTPS. The form collects your name, email address, gaming or beta-testing experience, reason for applying, preferred platform, and expected weekly play time. It also records the submission time and that you acknowledged the privacy notice. We store applications in a SQLite database outside the public website directory, with access limited to authorized company personnel. The form does not set an automatic deletion date; we retain applications while needed for recruitment, testing, support, and legal obligations, and delete them when no longer needed. Our hosting provider, DreamHost, hosts the site and database and may process ordinary technical information needed to deliver and protect the website, such as IP address, browser information, request time, and server logs. We do not use that information to build an advertising profile.
Beta applications and customer email
We use beta application details to review your request and contact you about testing. Please do not include sensitive personal information. To request deletion of an application or ask a privacy question, contact us at support@overthehillsoftware.com. We also receive and process information you choose to include in customer support emails. Your email provider handles those messages under its own terms and privacy practices.
Information collected by our games
Plain Old Tower Defense is intended for people aged 13 and older. The current Android game does not require an account or ask players to provide their name, email address, or other profile information. It stores difficulty and speed preferences and the highest completed level for each difficulty in app-specific storage on the device. This save data is not uploaded to or synchronized with our servers. The game does not request access to contacts or precise location.
The Android game displays ads through Google AdMob. It uses Google User Messaging Platform (UMP) to update consent information before initializing the ads SDK, show a consent form where required, and provide privacy options where UMP indicates they are required. The game requests ads only when UMP reports that ad requests are allowed. Ads may include an interstitial at a level transition and an optional rewarded ad after game over. Ads that are unavailable or not permitted do not block gameplay.
When AdMob is used, Google and its advertising partners may process information such as an advertising ID or other device identifiers, IP address, device and app information, approximate location, ad requests, impressions, clicks or other ad interactions, and diagnostic information. They may use information to provide and measure ads, prevent fraud, and protect their services. The information and processing depend on the device, region, consent choices, and advertising settings; depending on those choices and settings, ads may be personalized, non-personalized, or limited. We do not currently use a separate analytics or crash-reporting SDK in the Android game. See Google's information about how it uses information from sites or apps that use its services.
An iOS beta is also available for testing. It is a separate test build, so its platform-specific SDKs, advertising configuration, and data handling may differ from the current Android game. We will update this policy with those details before broader iOS release.
Google UMP determines whether a consent form or privacy-options form is required for a device and region. You can also control certain advertising settings through your device and operating-system settings. Google may process consent choices under its own policies. Apple and Google may independently collect information under their own policies when you use their stores or platform services.
How information is used
We use beta application and support information to respond to requests, operate testing programs, provide support, and meet legal obligations. DreamHost processes website information to host and protect the site. Google and its advertising partners process ad-related information for the purposes described above and in Google's policies.
Sharing
We share website and beta-request information with DreamHost to host and protect the website, and information in support emails with the email providers involved in sending and receiving those messages. The Android game shares ad requests with Google AdMob and UMP as needed to provide ads and consent features. We may also disclose information when required by law or necessary to protect rights, safety, or property. We do not sell personal information as that term is commonly used in applicable privacy laws.
Retention and security
We retain information only for as long as reasonably necessary for the purposes described in this policy, to resolve disputes, enforce agreements, and meet legal obligations. No method of transmission or storage is completely secure, but we use reasonable measures appropriate to the information and the Services.
Age and children's privacy
The intended audience for Plain Old Tower Defense is people aged 13 and older. Age classifications and the age of digital consent vary by region; in some places, users older than 13 may still be treated as children or as under the age of consent. The game does not ask for a player's date of birth or provide an in-game age-verification step. The applicable Google Play audience declarations and AdMob child-directed and under-age-of-consent settings must be confirmed for the actual distribution regions before release. If you believe a child has provided personal information to us through a beta application or support email, contact us so we can investigate and take appropriate action.
Your choices and privacy requests
Depending on where you live, you may have rights to request access, correction, deletion, restriction, or information about the processing of your personal information. To submit a privacy question or request, contact us at support@overthehillsoftware.com. We may need to verify your request before acting on it.
Changes to this policy
We may update this Privacy Policy when the Services or legal requirements change. We will post the revised policy on this page and update the date above.
